The Big Beat

Directed and Produced by Joe Lauro

Written by Rick Coleman

THE BIG BEAT is  the story of how Fats Domino  and  his musical  partner Dave Bartholomew  BECAME  the inventors of Rock N' Roll ... and how they effectively broke down the color barriers that  paved the way for racial integration through their music. Our film blends interviews with Dave, Fats and with surviving band members as well as  rare recently discovered concert footage of the band in their heyday. The story is rooted in the culture, traditions and rhythms of their native New Orleans and French Creole culture. It pays tribute to the great side men LEE ALLEN, HERB HARDESTY and TANOO COLEMAN who turned New Orleans Rhythm & Blues into Rock N' Roll.
