Hello everyone! Long time no blog!
Here at CCBFF, we have been very busy wrapping up the final touches before the festival - less than ten days! - and as a result, our online offering hasn't been very active lately. We want to thank everyone who is still with us on this exciting adventure, and we appreciate everything you bring us. If you haven't bought your tickets yet, go do that now!
As we discuss in our mission statement, one of our goals for the Capital City Black Film Festival is to "Participate in economic growth and development by inviting film and television companies to produce content in Austin and the state of Texas." Recently, however, the opportunity came to us from the good folks over at On Location Casting. We've been informed that the hit NBC show Revolution will be filming here in Austin, and they're looking for extras!
Revolution is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama that takes place 15 years after the start of a worldwide blackout. It is produced by Bad Robot Productions, a company owned by J.J. Abrams' - renowned for his work on the recent Star Trek films, the hit TV series Lost, and much more. The show is currently on NBC, and the new season is expected to start up again on September 25th.
The notice states that all ages and types are welcome to sign up as paid extras with no prior experience required. Pay for non-union extras is "$64.00 for an 8-hour day ($8.00/hour) plus time and one half after 8 hours." Come dedicated, because there's a serious time commitment:
"Filming will take place on a Monday through Friday schedule. Work days for Extras and Talent generally average about 12 hours a day and you MUST have full day and night availability on the day or days you are selected to work."
It is noted that "some acting experience required for Featured non-speaking roles," so if you are seeking a prominent part, make sure to have a good resume ready.
Filming in the Austin area is happening now until "approximately the end of April 2014" and they "will be casting all of our Extras, Featured Extras and Stand-in Roles locally." Make sure to download the full notice here or just head over to www.onlocationcasting.net to sign up. Let us know in the comments if you're trying out!
